    Electrical Parts Reconditioners

    Recondition and rebuild salvaged, electrical parts of equipment and wind new coils on armatures of used generators and motors.

    Solders, wraps, and coats wires to ensure proper insulation. Replaces broken and defective parts. Cuts insulating material to fit slots on armature core, and places material in bottom of core slots. Tests armatures and motors to ensure proper operation. Solders ends of coils to commutator segments. Bolts porcelain insulators to wood parts to assemble hot stools. Cleans and polishes parts, using solvent and buffing wheel. Inserts and hammers ready-made coils in place. Disassembles salvaged equipment used in electric-power systems, such as air circuit breakers and lightning arresters, using hand tools, and discards non-repairable parts. Winds new coils on armatures of generators and motors.

    Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

    Repairing -- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Equipment Selection -- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Installation -- Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications. Quality Control Analysis -- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

    Finger Dexterity -- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. Arm-Hand Steadiness -- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. Problem Sensitivity -- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

    Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material -- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment -- Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles. Controlling Machines and Processes -- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
