    Hand and Portable Power Tool Repairers

    Repair and adjust hand and power tools.

    Repairs or replaces tools and defective parts, such as handles, vises, pliers, or metal buckets, using soldering tool, gas torch, power tools, or hand tools. Examines and tests tools to determine defects or cause of malfunction, using hand and power tools, observation, and experience. Disassembles and reassembles tools, using hand tools, power tools, or arbor press. Verifies and adjusts alignment and dimensions of parts, using gauges and tracing lathe. Records nature and extent of repairs performed. Maintains stock of parts. Cleans polishing and buffing wheels, using steam cleaning machine, to remove abrasives and bonding materials and salvages cloth from wheel. Sprays, brushes, or recoats surface of polishing wheel and places it in oven to dry. Sharpens tools, such as picks, shovels, screwdrivers, and scoops, using bench grinder and emery wheel.

    Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

    Repairing -- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Equipment Selection -- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Operation and Control -- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

    Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Finger Dexterity -- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Visualization -- The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged. Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Control Precision -- The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

    Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment -- Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles. Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material -- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Getting Information -- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Controlling Machines and Processes -- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
