    Be&D

    Be & D redefines the concept of American luxury with its seamless blend of old-world craftsmanship and modern creative vision that consistently challenges the idea of limitations. Targeted toward a sensibility rather than an age group, each piece is constructed from the finest premium leathers, exotic skins and custom hardware. The brand’s DNA is defined by its consistent, focused and authentic design identity, strong value/price ratio, longevity in its product offerings and exclusivity in its distribution. This ethos runs throughout each category and endeavor, thereby solidifying Be & D’s standing in the marketplace and commitment to becoming a complete luxury lifestyle brand. Be & D was founded in 2004 by Be Inthavong and Steve Dumain. Their first design, the “Garbo”, became an international phenomenon and catapulted Be & D onto the scene as a new force in the luxury market. In July of 2009, Dumain assumed the role of sole Creative Director, starting with the Spring/Summer 2010 collection as well as the season’s runway collaborations noted below. Be & D’s atelier in New York’s Garment District continues in the hands-on tradition of storied European luxury houses. It is here that the brand’s day and evening bags, belts and small leather goods including wallets, keychains and pochettes are designed and produced four times a year - Autumn/Winter, Spring/Summer Pre-Fall and Cruise. Each sewer is trained in the intricacies that define Be & D to ensure that every piece is created with the strictest attention to detail and quality. This capability to manufacture in-house and locally helps for a shorter speed-to-market, giving the company the ability to fill re-orders often in less than 2-3 weeks. It also allows for bespoke services to private clients and special-orders for wholesale customers. In 2007, Be & D debuted their first shoe collection. With signature gold soles and a variety of heel heights, the line effortlessly compliments and merchandises with each season’s core offerings. Initially made in Italy with two main collections, production was recently moved to Brazil to accommodate the addition of two pre-collections, beginning with Cruise 2010. In addition to the seasonal collections, Be & D has collaborated with ready-to-wear designers, including Ruffian and most recently Doo.Ri (A/W 09 and S/S 2010) and Rachel Roy (S/S 2010) in developing accessories for their New York Fashion Week runway presentations. In the pipeline for 2010 are additional strategic partnership opportunities with like-minded luxury companies both within and outside of the fashion industry. Be & D is beloved by top editors, stylists and fashion influencers around the globe and has been photographed on the likes of celebrities such as Blake Lively, Leigh Lezark, Katy Perry, Leighton Meester, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Taylor Momsen, Daisy Lowe, Mena Suvari, Eva Longoria, Liv Tyler, Charlize Theron, Jessica Biel and Penelope Cruz. The collection is carried at luxury boutiques, department stores and select online retailers worldwide including Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Lane Crawford, Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Selfridges, Matches, Dover Street Market, Villa Moda, Luisa via Roma, Boutique 1, Madison, On Pedder, Edit, Isetan, and Shopbop.com.
