    Homeless Empowerment Project/Spare Change News

The Homeless Empowerment Project publishes Spare Change News, a bi-weekly, 16 page newspaper. Our mission is two-fold: by focusing on homelessness issues within the pages we strive to educate our readers on the myths surrounding homelessness while encouraging them to join in the fight against homelessness; additionally, we exist to help homeless, formerly homeless, and low-income individuals earn a living by becoming vendors of Spare Change News. Our vendors purchase the paper from us for 25 cents a copy, and sell in on the street for one dollar. The vendor keeps the 75-cent profit. Many of our vendors' main source of income is from the sale of Spare Change News.
