    DETAILS OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME KENNYS BOOKSHOP & ART GALLERIES LTD. Kennys Bookshop and Art Galleries are celebrating their 70th year in business with an exciting schedule of events throughout 2010, including exhibitions, painting demonstrations and collaborations with the Galway Arts Festival and Baboró. As one of the first bookshops in the world to sell online, we have a thriving e-commerce trade, as well as a shop and gallery in Galway. For more information about the history of Kennys please see http://www.kennys.ie/help/aboutus/ De scription of Internship The internship programme gives an introduction to the book-trade, as well as providing hands on experience of online book selling. You will be working alongside experienced booksellers and members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association, working directly with the materials and learning about the technology which makes the online book trade possible. The internship is with our Export division. This is quite a busy Internet based operation and focused very much on international markets. We would envisage much of your time being spent assisting with our Internet orders and worldwide customers in a practical manner. Each morning and afternoon we order-pick and make postal shipments and you will assist in this logistical activity. Every effort will be made to ensure you have a broad introduction to our business, but we would like to stress that you will be expected to enthusiastically participate in any appointed task. As quite a close knit team the staff in Kennys are very adaptable to every aspect of our business, and each member of our team is expected to lend a hand when needed. We expect the same of our interns. Sample of Tasks for Web/Warehouse Processing: • Logistics and Warehousing: [Stock monitoring & stock checking] • Sales Order Processing and Fulfillment [creating orders, picking orders, shipping and invoicing] • Using specific software to control orders from internet websites • Using Kennys specific supply chain management system • Purchase Order Processing and Receipt (processing invoices and dealing with stock deliveries) • Contacting book wholesalers to order stock (fax and email) • Helping to fulfill internet customer wants and enquiries • Preparing printed orders from the internet for the warehouse • General and varied office duties and administration work • Training provided on each aspect of this work As much of this work involves the use of computers it is preferred that candidates would hold basic computer skills. Internships are for a minimum of 4 weeks, to commence between September and December 2010.
