A celebrated CFDA member, Michael is passionate about his knits, enlisting artisans as well as designers to produce the finest quality of women’s wear. Located in the heart of the garment district, the Michael Simon Label now boasts a contemporary line, Smitten. The inspiration for Smitten was born of our designer’s love for retro romance comic books from the 1940’s and 50’s. their design studio is adorned by these classic American romance images which inspire them season after season. Michael Simon has been in every major US fashion publication including: Cover of WWD Vogue Elle Marie Claire Harpers Bazaar Good Housekeeping Sports Illustrated - Swimsuit Issue Learning experience to include the following responsibilities; • Assist in showroom with sales team and buyers • Track samples (check in/out samples, organize shipments, etc) • Maintain showroom appearance • Organize press materials (press kits, look book mailings, etc) • Participate in various Trade Show events; help with sales, organize/steam garments, etc • Update database with vendor information • Filing, date entry, and general fashion showroom responsibilities This position is within our corporate office which also houses our design team and New York Showroom. This is unique as it affords the opportunity to experience fashion from the inception of design to the fruition of a full, saleable collection. We are looking for someone honest, intelligent, who enjoys fashion, and learning about the industry. Hours: minimum 15 hours per week, days and hours are flexible upon intern’s schedule. While flexible, interested applicants should be prepared to treat this position as a job. This is a clothing allowance (only) internship and college credit may be given.
