    Red Hen Press

Red Hen Press was founded in 1994 by Mark E. Cull and Kate Gale. We are a nonprofit literary press specializing poetry, literary fiction as well as memoirs and literary criticism. We are dedicated to advancing the arts by means of helping to support quality writing that is being ignored or overlooked by large or commercial publishers. We were established to help keep creative and stimulating literature alive. We help educate our community by donating books to schools and other institutions. Red Hen has published more than 170 books and has established a significant cultural presence in Southern California and beyond. In 2007, Red Hen published twenty books of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, including significant works by David Mason, Maurya Simon, Chris Abani, Charles Harper Webb, and Eloise Klein Healy. We offer our authors not only publication and editorial support, but also help in placing their book in their local bookstores as well as help setting up readings and book signings locally and nationally. Red Hen Press is a space for writers to be celebrated.
