    Green Business Marketing Assistant

    8-12 hrs/week 6 month minimum commitment. Asian Counseling Referral Service is a full service social service organization dedicated to promoting the social emotional and economic well being and empowerment of Asian and Pacific Islander individuals, families and communities by providing and advocating for innovative community based multi-lingual and multicultural services. Our social venture project, Everclean, is a green cleaning company run by the Vocational and Naturalization department of ACRS. Clients of ACRS are employed and trained to provide cleaning services to the greater Seattle area. Revenue generated from Everclean supports the project and the work done by ACRS. Duties: The Marketing Assistant (MA) will assist the Program Director and Everclean Coordinator to market our new green cleaning business. Intern will develop a marketing strategy and network with other socially conscious businesses and organizations in King County. The MAwill also contact potential clients directly, research and provide feedback on green business practices, provide customer service back-up support for Everclean and bid projects. Other duties (such as employer outreach and outreach for other projects) can be assigned based on person’s interests, skills and time commitment. Minimum Qualifications: Pursuing or completed BA degree in Business, Social Service or Environmental Studies or experience in a related field. Interest in green business development and working to assist a diverse population. Educational Benefits: MA will learn how to market and develop an environmentally and social-conscious small business, as well as bid jobs and develop customer relations. In addition, Marketing Assistant will learn how to work with limited English speaking populations.     http://www.acrs.org/volun teering/index.htm Asia n Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) is a nationally recognized non-profit organization offering a broad array of human services and behavioral health programs to Asian Pacific Americans in King County. ACRS is the largest multi-service organization serving all the different Asian Pacific American communities - immigrants, refugees and American born - in the Pacific Northwest. The agency's largely bilingual, bicultural staff of 180 collectively speaks close to 30 languages and dialects. Caseworkers who speak the same language and come from the same culture assist over 18,000 people annually, making clients' transitions easier and successful outcomes more likely. ACRS provides a continuum of services for primarily low income, immigrant, refugee, American-born Asians and Pacific Islanders through 11 programs: Aging and Adult Services Children, Youth & Family Comprehensive Adult Mental Health Consultation and Education Domestic Violence Intervention & Education-Batterers Treatment Information & Referral International District Legal Clinic Naturalization Services Senior Nutrition and Food Bank Substance Abuse Treatment Vocational Services ACRS was started by a group of interns from the University of Washington in 1973 out of a grassroots effort. During that time, Asian Pacific Americans were at risk of misdiagnosis and receiving inappropriate care from service providers unfamiliar with their culture and language.
