    Human Resources Intern

    Internships will run through 2/28/08 10-12 hours per week Institutional Mission - Sparking children’s learning through play. Position Summary - This position is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Finance and Administration and the Payroll & Benefits Administrator with various projects related to human resources administration at Minnesota Children’s Museum. Supervision Summary - This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Major Job Accountabilities - This is an estimate of the duties to be included in the internship. The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of museum human resources staff. % ofTime - 20% Update Employee Handbook. 15% Oversee job postings process; send new posting for open positions and cancel postings as jobs are filled. Complete AA files for all job postings. 15% Compile and complete Affirmative Action reporting spreadsheets for the City of Saint Paul and the State of MN. 15% Update job position descriptions, assuring consistency among departments. 15% Create individual benefit reports for employees using the Fringe Facts software. 5% Create employee personnel files for new hires. Review current employee personnel files to assure proper documentation is on file; complete files as necessary. 5% Prepare new employee orientation kits. 10% Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required - 1. Enrolled in college -level program which has provided at least one year of exposure to human resources management or related field. 2. Ability to work independently and effectively after being given clear direction. 3. Skill in coordinating tasks and projects. 4. Knowledge of Word and Excel software programs 5. Must be able to keep confidentiality in all HR matters.
