The Butterfly House, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden, is looking for interns in their Entomology Department. The internship includes hands on work with all non-venomous invertebrates and other animals at the Butterfly House, as well as helping to maintain the collection and processing shipments. Interns may be required to spend time in the classroom for hands on demonstrations. Interns will have direct interaction with the public. Requirements include coursework in entomology or related biological field, as well as working towards or having recently completed a degree in a biological field with at least a 2.5 GPA. If the internship is for college credit, the number of hours is set by the college. The Butterfly House requires interns to contribute a minimum of 140 hours per internship. Interns are required to work a minimum of one four (4) hour shift per week and not to exceed sixteen (16) hours per week. The Butterfly House can be flexible concerning the number of hours and the design of your internship, based on prior written proposals with an agreement from the area supervisor. Interns are also required to complete a project (or portfolio) that will be informally presented to The Butterfly House staff towards the end of the internship.

The Butterfly House, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden, is a tropical conservatory with 1200 free flying butterflies located in Chesterfield, Missouri. In addition to the conservatory we have an exhibit gallery, native habitat, events pavillion, and offer a variety of educational programs for all ages.
