    Internship

    Under the direct supervision of the Advocacy Officer of the New York office, the advocacy intern will be responsible for supporting FAS’ Advocacy activities and programs. S/he will participate in the meetings organized by the UN and other Non Governmental organizations. Also, assist with administrative duties and other tasks as required. The intern would also work with FAS’ Secretariat in Geneva and liaison offices in Dakar FAS works to facilitate and promote the role of women in the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, advancing the role of women in post-conflict resolution initiatives and in peacebuilding in general in Africa. Internships at FAS are challenging and highly rewarding and interns should expect to gain practical skills in, and a greater understanding of, the daily running of an international NGO. Interns will also have the opportunity to work alongside international organizations and UN agencies.

    Femmes Africa Solidarite

    Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working to engender the peace process in Africa. Since its inception in 1996, FAS has worked to foster, strengthen and promote the leading role of women in the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts on the African continent. FAS works to strengthen the capacities of grassroots women's organizations so that they can participate fully in the processes of peacebuilding and conflict resolution in their countries and communities. FAS has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and observer status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR). It is also represented in the African Union Women's Committee and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). In addition, FAS chairs the Geneva Working Group on Women, Peace and Security, which works to monitor the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
