    Spring Environmental Education Internship

    Badlands is seeking interns to prepare and present the Badlands in Your Classroom Program, an outreach education program that targets K-8 school children within 100-mile radius of park headquarters. Interns also staff the visitor center information desk and complete a variety of education program and planning assignments. The internship will last for 12-13 weeks between February 1 and May 19, 2007. Interns work 40-hours per week with two consecutive days off. Skills required: Applicant must be comfortable with public speaking and/or student instruction. The intern must be knowledgeable of using computers with a Windows operating system, including the use and creation of PowerPoint presentations. Must possess a valid state driver's license and a good driving record. Benefits: Free housing in a shared in-park apartment. In-depth training and a chance to visit other national parks in the local area. Some reimbursement of expenses may be available for meals, travel, and uniforms. Development of work experience in the field of environmental education.

    Badlands National Park

    Badlands National Park is a National Park Service site, located in Western South Dakota. The park consists of 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes and spires blended with one of the largest expanses of protected mixed-grass prairie. The Badlands contain some of the richest Oligocene fossil beds found in the world, dating 25 to 37 million years old. Park wildlife includes bison, antelope, prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, and swift fox.
