Campaigns/Organizin g Job Description: This is a skills-building internship program, in which interns will take on significant projects to advance Corporate Accountability International’s mission, including our Think Outside the Bottle Campaign, challenging corporate control of water, our Value [the] Meal campaign, challenging corporate abuse of our food and out Campaign Challenging Big Tobacco. The projects will be coupled with training sessions with a variety of staff members and guest trainers. Sample training topics include action planning, campaign research, media outreach, fundraising, recruitment, direct pressure tactics, and many others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works most closely with the National Organizers and Campaign Directors to organize activists at the local, regional, national or international level,
• Outreach to targeted constituencies to get people involved in the Think Outside the Bottle Campaign: www.ThinkOutsidetheBottle.org our Value [the] Meal campaign www.ValueTheMeal.org and our Campaign Challenging Big Tobacco www.StopCorporateAbuse.org to develop Corporate Accountability International’s core of activists,
• Build network of activists by organizing and participating in campaign actions and organizing events
• Timely response to requests for information and management of campaign materials,
• Designing and layout of organizing materials for a cross section of campaigns and constituencies,
• Provide administrative support to National Organizers on a variety of short term campaign projects; and
• Participate in a variety of organizational building activities
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills and the ability to juggle several tasks while meeting deadlines
• Good political analysis
• Experience in a high-energy campaign or non-profit setting preferable

Community Organizing and Administration Internship

Community Organizing and Administration Internship Job Description: The Community Organizing and Administration Intern will work with Corporate Accountability’s Field organizing unit to help to build local groups of volunteers, called Action Committees, in key cities across the country. The Intern will play a key role in recruiting and building relationships with key volunteers and tracking and monitoring the progress of our volunteers and organizers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works closely with Regional Campaign Organizers to organize volunteers in key US cities to build local groups of volunteers.
• Designing and laying out of organizing materials.
• Creating and managing systems for recording and tracking volunteer and campaign progress.

The Development and Membership Outreach Intern Job Description: The Development and Membership Outreach Intern will work with our team of fundraisers and membership outreach staff as they organize and engage our members across the country in support of our campaigns.

Marketing and Communications Job Description: Corporate Accountability International is engaged in a social marketing initiative to accomplish three goals:
1. Shift markets away from socially and environmentally destructive products (such as single-serve plastic water bottles) and toward sustainable and ethical alternatives;
2. Build the Corporate Accountability International brand identity to raise the organization’s profile, expand the reach of the organization’s campaigns, and, above all, raise awareness about the issues;
3. Diversify the organization’s revenue stream.
The Marketing & Communications Intern (MCI) will work with our Communications unit to develop and implement targeted social enterprise objectives that serve these goals.

• The MCI will research, develop, and implement plans for merchandizing products associated with our campaigns. S/he will do this by:

Research Internship Job Description: The Research Intern will support our organizers and researchers in conducting research and analysis needed to develop and implement our campaigns, particularly our Campaign Challenging Corporate Control of Water, our Campaign Challenging the Corporate Abuse of Our Food and our campaign challenging the World Bank’s promotion of water privatization. Specifically, the Research Intern will:
• Further develop the Think Outside the Bottle campaign and our analysis of the bottled water industry’s practices and impacts, including water sourcing, quality testing, packaging materials and energy use, and groundwater extraction;
• Monitor and analyze developments in national and international policy regarding the bottled water industry, water and human rights, and funding for water infrastructure; help identify and evaluate key players in these policy arenas.
• Assess and analyze information regarding the various vehicles for water privatization, and help analyze World Bank process and projects involving water resources management that promote privatization;
• Advance the Value [the] Meal campaign strategies, with a focus on the fast food industry’s impacts on public health, marketing practices, and interference in nutrition and health policy;
• Monitor, track and provide analysis on issues relevant to diet-related diseases and the fast food industry, including childhood obesity, local policy initiatives and the marketing of unhealthy foods to children;
• Develop corporate research profiles that track industry performance and trends as well as provide detailed information relevant to the operations of our corporate targets; and
• Assist with the preparation of written materials for internal and external consumption, which may include corporate profiles, blog postings, communications to our tens of thousands of members, and other campaign materials.
By gathering, analyzing, synthesizing and tracking information using a variety of sources and approaches, the Research Intern will help lay the foundation for the next phase of our campaigns.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Compiling and analyzing information for our campaigns.
• Assisting with research reports, utilizing library, research and internet skills to gather needed information.
• Maintaining information tracking and monitoring systems, and assisting with special research projects.
• Outreach to research contacts and targeted constituencies.

• Providing general support to the Research Unit, as well as overall assistance with broader campaign initiatives.
