    Volunteer Services Intern

    Internships will run through 2/28/08 10-12 hours per week Institutional Mission – Sparking children’s learning through play Position Summary - This position is responsible for a variety of aspects of volunteer management including recruiting and screening, maintaining volunteer records, providing recognition, and ongoing communication with current volunteers. This internship will also assist with event planning, and program research. Supervision Summary - This position may supervise volunteers as needed. Major Job Accountabilities - This is an estimate of the duties to be included in the internship. The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of Volunteer Services staff. % of Time - 55% Assist with day-to-day operation of the volunteer program. This may include but is not limited to: * Record volunteer hours and enter volunteer information into Volunteer Works database * Follow up with volunteer prospects and applicants via phone or e-mail * Prepare recruitment and volunteer screening materials * Assist with pre-screening volunteers, including phone interviews and reference checks * Assist with mailings and other communication to volunteers as needed * Maintain a volunteer recruitment contacts roster * Track and maintain applications for internships * Attend recruitment fairs as needed * Post volunteer and internship opportunities on identified websites * Print and distribute Volunteer Works Reports, including schedules and birthday lists 20% Prepare monthly displays for the Volunteer Wall, which highlights volunteerism 25% Other projects and tasks as assigned and/or determined by intern and Volunteer Services staff
