    animal husbandry

    Internship program available at EFBC. The program will give you first hand experience in: 1: Exhibit cleaning and maintenance. 2: Behavioral observation & completion of health charts. 3: Dietary preparation. 4: Observation & assisting in medical procedures if situation warranted. For veterinary internships, a 1-2 week working program with our vet at his private clinic can be arranged. 5: Educational aspects via giving tours to public including possible off-site lectures. 6: Hand raising of procedures. 7: Paperwork required (such as permits for import and export, ISIS tracking, MedArks recording, USDA inspections, Federal & State regulations.) 8: Office procedures. If you are interested in the business end of a breeding facility you are welcome to spend time in the office to observe all the redundant paperwork necessary to operate a facility such as this, as well as budgets, etc. Naturally, working hands on with the variety of species we have. You will obtain knowledge on species behaviors, gestation, breeding, etc. Each species is unique. EFBC is a non-profit organization and although generally housing facilities on the premises are limited and if not already promised or occupied, can be offered at a reasonable rate we are unable to offer any financial compensation during your internship. Housing and expenses would be your responsibility. If you think you may be interested in spending some time with us let us know. In some cases others have expressed an interest in finding roommates to share expenses. If you would like the name of some other students who may be coming at the same time and are interested in sharing a room we can provide contact numbers. The issuance of college credits would be dependant upon your university. NOTE: Email us direct with requests.
